Mountain Bike Racing

Just riding is fun, but who doesn’t like winning?

RPI Cycling races in 2 Cross Country events (always XC and STXC) and 2 Gravity events (Enduro, DH, or DS) each ECCC race weekend. We race against and camp with different colleges all around the Northeast. Come to just spectate and volunteer, race in the Omnium (all four races), or anywhere in between! Racing can be as competitive or relaxed as you like it with categories A, B, and C for men, and A and B for women. There is no requirement for what you must do as a racer, just to have fun! RPI Cycling supports our racers by offering 50% reimbursement for all race related fees, camping, and gas for these race events.

The 2024 ECCC mountain season took us to the University of Vermont, VT; Clarkson University, NY; Western Massachusetts; Claremont, NH; and Blue Mountain, PA. We will take qualifying individuals to USAC Colligate Nationals in Bentonville, Arkansas.

The first race is usually the second weekend after classes start. If you plan on racing in the mountain season, please be aware that we camp and that you should bring your camping gear. We can loan out equipment (tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads) for races, but it is usually better if you bring your own. We currently all pitch in and travel via members cars, and will pack up and caravan wherever our races are. If you have bike racks you can loan out for the semester/year, we’d appreciate it! We also plan food and camping for the races (so it’s not a free for all!) and split up the costs evenly at the end of the weekend.
